Pedagogy

OpenCourseWare asked Prof. Devadas to discuss the pedagogical approach he used in designing and instructing 6.042J. He also outlines the differences and similarities from the previous version of the course. His comments follow:

"This version of 6.042 corresponds to a slightly slower paced class than the Fall 2002 version. In particular, proof concepts and proof techniques are spread out over multiple lectures at the beginning of the term, and material on statistical analysis covered in the Fall 2002 version is omitted. The lectures provide several examples of theoretical analysis of popular problems and games, which advanced high school seniors as well as freshmen and sophomores should enjoy. Similar to the Fall 2002 offering, the lectures emphasize precision and rigor in all analyses and proofs that are presented."
